NO NEEDLES
NO DILATION
An individual in-office treatment may take 10 minutes or less.
Valeda PBM is noninvasive treatment uses light rather than injections.
No dilation or anesthesia is required; patients may resume daily activities afterward
  • What Is Dry Age-Related Macular Degeneration?

Age-related macular degeneration affects the macula, the central part of the retina responsible for detailed vision used for reading, driving, recognizing faces and other everyday activities. In dry AMD, retinal cells gradually break down over time

  • How Does Valeda™ PBM Work?

Valeda uses photobiomodulation (PBM), a light-based therapy designed to stimulate energy production in the cells of the eye. Treatment is delivered in the doctor's office using specific wavelengths of light.

    Noninvasive treatment: dilation-free, anesthesia-free, speculum-free and injection-free

  • Who May Be a Candidate

Valeda is intended for certain patients with dry AMD. The FDA-authorized indication includes patients with best-corrected visual acuity of 20/32 through 20/70 and qualifying dry AMD findings, including specified medium or large drusen or non-central geographic atrophy, with the absence of neovascular maculopathy or central-involving geographic atrophy.

Not everyone with AMD is a candidate. The doctors at Hopewell Eyecare can evaluate your retinal health, medical history and current medications to determine whether Valeda PBM may be appropriate for you

  • What Can Patients Expect?

Treatment is performed in a doctor's office or clinic and may take 10 minutes or less. The pupils are not dilated and anesthesia is not required. Clinical study data reported improved mean visual acuity after about two years compared with patients who did not receive treatment. Individual results vary.
